Kinderdance Combination Ballet & Tap Class

Note: Kinderdance I and II classes have a maximum class size of 15

Picture your tiny toy bounding with delight throughout a class filled with rhythms, bouncing, turning, and tumbling. Teachers will guide rhythms in tap class and help children learn balance in ballet class, paying close attention and taking great care in their progress. Your bright-eyed Kinderdancer will learn combinations to upbeat songs, memorize dance vocabulary each week, and build encouraging relationships with their peers in an atmosphere and environment that is as enjoyable as it is beneficial.

Over the years we have observed that Kinderdance Level I works best for ages 3 through younger 4 year old and Kinderdance Level II for children that are older 4 year old through 5 year old. We keep a close eye on each child's progress to ensure the level they’re placed is both appropriate and beneficial for their dance education . If we feel a student needs to move to another level, the parent or guardian will be contacted by your child’s Teacher or Director.

The Mother of Dance. Ballet originated during the Italian Renaissance in the 15th century, and its format begins at the barre and leads to movement all throughout the dance room. In our classes, students will learn classical technique while memorizing positions and vocabulary. With a focus on proper alignment, careful balance, and precise coordination, the exercises will physically promote strength and flexibility, while mentally promoting artistry, musicality, and grace. Throughout the class, students are encouraged to enjoy themselves and remember to have fun while exploring choreography and better understanding the style, art, and techniques of ballet.

Let's get those feet moving! Tap is characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion, with dancers making frequent use of syncopation to create their own music, their own sound, through their taps. In our classes, students will practice the basic steps in various combinations, improving coordination, balance, and understanding of rhythm. Classes begin with warm-ups, then move onto traveling progressions and skill training, and end with the learning and practicing of combinations. Advance musicality and intricacy of movement through these upbeat and challenging classes!

Jazz is an upbeat fusion of several dance techniques such as modern and ballet, and explores the use of isolations, syncopation, and balance. Classes consist of high-energy warm-ups and center combinations that evolve and progress weekly, each adapting or building upon those taught and learned in previous classes. Dancers will gain experience with blending techniques while learning dynamic choreography. Now let's show some PIZZAZ!

Get energized and inspired with Hip Hop classes! Designed to introduce primarily breaking, popping, locking, street and commercial styles, students will be introduced to the technique's vocabulary as well as the history behind each sub-genre as they're taught, learned, and practiced in class. Hip Hop is a terrific workout that will build upon the dancer's personal approach to movement.

Leaps & Turns is an important component in every dancer's repertoire and will enhance all dance styles. This technique class focus on the most basic of turns (chaine, pique, pirouette) through the advanced turns (attitude, arabesque, coupé, fouetté, à la seconde, multiple pirouettes) and variations of all of the above. It also, progresses from basic leaps and jumps (grand jeté, saut de chat, sauté, glissade, jeté, assemblé, pas de chat, sissonne), to advanced leaps and jumps. The student's goal is to execute a series of complicated turn or leap patterns technically correct and safely. This is, strictly, technique and will not perform in our Annual Recital.
